“Blog #2”
I would like to
start by saying that this project was fun, and I feel like everyone in the
class showed an amazing improvement compared to the last speech assignment.
Starting with group 4, even though two of their members couldn’t make it to the
day of the presentation, they did an amazing job of using the tools they had
available to still deliver their speech, the videos were a great idea, and they
had amazing skills to make it seem like they were there and still having the
audience engaged through most of their speeches. Group 4 captain/manager was
also amazing, like always with her funny ways of improvising during her
introductions and conclusions making the audience engaged. They talked about
why it is important to vote regarding USA schooling and education
policies, my personal take shifts a
little bit to the republican side on this one due to the fact that nothing is
free, if schools of higher education like college were to be free or the debts of
graduated students were to be forgiven, that money doesn’t come from thin air
it will either be taken out of taxes increasing the taxes that most people
already complain for, or will be paid with debt by printing more money increasing
inflation.

The argument of pursuing a career but then having thousands of
dollars in debt it's understandable, but as adults I think we should realize no
one owes us anything there is no such thing as the right to being employed, it's
our duty to work hard study even harder and give the futures generations a
better life and that will not come free, with free school all we get is that
our future generations, our kids grand kids, will be paying for our careers.
Moving onto group 3 (my group) I think we’re always harder on ourselves and our
own groups, but I found a clear mistake in my group. There were 3 times that
someone explained how the electoral college works, first was on the historical
view, then just how it worked overall and finally in America vs the world part
2. In all the instances the explanation made sense based on the context but if
they came together to realize what each other wrote that little mistake could have
been corrected; and the videos were a bit too long. But all that aside, I think
my group did amazingly and it was my personal favorite out of the 4 groups (120%
unbiased).

I did way better than last time, but it was expected I choose to
talk about something I’m already very familiar and knowledgeable about, didn’t
use complicated words and I was passionate about it. Then we got group 2 and oh
boy I didn’t like this one, not because of the presentation, the presentation
was amazing they all had it memorized, it was engaging and entertaining, but I
did not agree with a single word they had to say. For me personally, in the
abortion part of the speech I found that the pro-life arguments were lacking,
as in the pro-choice side was twice as long with videos on the topic and
everything. Let me start by saying that science a long time ago categorizes a
human fetus or embryo since the moment of conception a human life, why? That’s
easy for all the nursing major students they should know that at that moment
its not just a drop of blood or hair DNA or a nail, that single cell has all
the chromosomes and unique full DNA sequence that the child will have from that
single moment to the moment he dies, its not a potential human life IT IS
a human life, in the pro-life side of the speech I never heard this
argument, she said that the pro-life side thinks, believes, arguments etc.… it’s
not an opinion is science. I have very
close friends, friends that I call brothers that are pro-choice, but they
accept that they’re ending a human life, their argument is that human life
value relies on whether the parents want him or not, but I respect their
opinion because at least they face the truth and reality abortion is
terminating a human life. I do agree in 2 exceptions, if the mother life is in
danger and only one could survive the mother should life, but only after
everything was tried and failed to save them both; and if the women was a
victim of rape, other than that no one gets pregnant on accident as adults face
the consequences of your actions instead of running away from them and killing
an innocent life because you want enough money for the new iPhone or a leased
car.

People of my generation run away from responsibilities but there’s no such
thing as liberty or rights without responsibility. I’m very well informed on
this subject and I will gladly have an argument any time with anyone but that’s
enough for now. I’m not even going talk about women in sport generating the
same money as men, I think that when I see a women boxer do the same moves as
Mike Tyson then maybe I’ll watch it and support it, until then I will not force
myself to watch something I have no interest in for the sake of so called
“equality”. Presentation wise they were amazing group 2 is very good in their
speeches. Group 1 talked about immigration, personally I enjoyed their presentation,
the videos of the debate etc.... I came from Cuba so it’s a presentation that
has an emotional connection with me overall as solid presentation. My personal take it's that we should have a strong border and embrace legal emigration not illegal.

I think all my classmates eligible to vote will vote in this
election, I would like for them to vote for Trump that’s the candidate I would
have voted for but didn’t have enough time to register since I just recently
became citizen. But through this project we all had to do heavy research, so I
hope they make an educated vote for whichever they choose and I’m looking
forward the result of our new president.
Very well written blog post. I hope you will vote in the next election!
